Yesterday was such a GREAT Doggy Day!

Chingmy may not agree with me, but yesterday was such a fantastic Doggy Day.  My girls were SO precious and I got a chance to record some of it.

We had a good day where the girls were pretty well behaved - I did a lot of running around so that meant they had the run of the house.  I will add that Chingmy's separation anxiety seems to be gone since Wedgie arrived.  Yay Wedgie.  Grats Chingmy.

Our afternoon walkies was to our local PetSmart (just down the street) where we booked BOTH girls in for a day of play just before Christmas.

So Chingmy was overdue for her annual lube, oil and filter (sorry, we call it that, she needed to update her vaccines).  We've changed vets to a smaller one, closer to home who is a little less expensive.  We VERY much loved our old vets, but with 2 dogs, CHA-CHING!  Anyway, Dr. B is pretty cool.  I wasn't sure how Chingmy would react because he has a beard.  Dad says she was cool with it.  AWESOME!

So because this was an after school thing, we dragged Puppy along (kicking and screaming - just look at him!)  While Chingmy was in with the Doc, Wedgie stood on guard.  She's rocking it.

Once Chingmy was done, and Dad was chit chatting, she made sure to make her presence known.   You may want to biggify this picture.

Chingmy came out so we ran her over the lawn and met the resident guardian.

Came home and loved on our doggies.  Such wonderful girls.

Woah! December?

So, NO IDEA what happened to November, but we're already December and I wanted to post more often.  I was looking through pictures of my girls and noticed that it's so very hard to get a good picture of Wedgie.  Now, I am using my phone, and I'm sure if I took out the big DSLR with a fast shutter speed I could get a better picture, and I might need to do that soon, but for right now, there is always some part of Wedgie in motion.  Usually her tail.

In other news, we're pretty much ready for Christmas. The first present of the year goes to Wedgie - because it's pretty hard to hide a dog bed in this house.  Anyway, she seems happy with it.  Which is a good feeling.  No pictures because I haven't had a chance to clean up the bedroom in a while, and you don't need to see dog hair all over the place.  Chances are there's dog hair all over your house, look at that instead.

Lastly, I want to mention how much Puppy LOVES Wedgie and how much Wedgie loves Puppy.  He spends a lot of time playing on the floor, which makes him the perfect height for kiss attacks by our resident kissyface wag monster. She's also a little cuddlier than Chingmy.  Chingmy suffers through a hug then tells you when she's done.  Wedgie just soaks it all in and when you let go, she'll shake it off and rearrange her wrinkles.

Puppy picked out her new bed in fact.  He also picked out her i.d. tag - we finally took a trip without them to pick one out for her.  He's not ready to walk her.  He only outweighs her by 15lbs and he'll need to be at LEAST double her weight to deal with her dragging ability.

My "children" are awesome.
I hope to write before Christmas, but if I don't, Best Wishes of the Season and I hope Santa Paws is good to everyone.

A nice Fall Friday

Wedgie -   So there are lots of leaves blowing around here.  Don't we look beautiful?
Chingmy is looking for squirrels for me to chase.  I've taught her how to chase squirrels!

Chingmy -  I knew how to do that BEFORE she showed up.  Sheesh!
Wedgie - OK, but I've helped you refine the art of Squirrel Chasing.  You have to admit that I've helped you with THAT.

Chingmy - I admit nothing.
Mom- Fall has arrived.  Which means the squirrels are out in force.  Which means I am dragged around on each and every walk.  Oh the joys of being owed by a dog.  :-)

Hallowe'en 2017

Wedgie - Maybe if I don't look right at him, I won't have to acknowledge him.
Chingmy - Him who?  I don't see anyone

The Mom - This is Dad in his Hallowe'en costume.  'Nuff said.

Chingmy's Opinion Piece

Chingmy here.
Mom has been so very busy racing around and not blogging.  But I'm not letting her out of the computer room until we've posted something.  SHE wanted to do this so we are MAKING her do this.

I will have you know that I was not too sure about Wedgie when she joined us.  REALLY not sure.

I mean -  have you seen what she does?

What self respecting dog ACTUALLY does that?  She is ROACHING.  Peis don't do that.  We are very honourable dogs that wouldn't goof off like that.

Mom, really?
My family is SO embarrassing.  Sigh.  I am a suffering Pei-by.

Wedgie's Wednesday

Hello.  I am Wedgie.  And I got a car ride today.  All.  By. Myself.  It seems everywhere I go, I have Chingmy with me, which I can understand, I'm new to the neighbourhood, but a girl likes some one on one with her NewMom now and again.

I went to a nice place called VET.  I was petted and loved on and someone looked at my eyes, my teeth and my ears.  One of my ears is SUPER gross, Chingmy also keeps licking it.  Ew.  I also got a ride on a moving table.  It wasn't nearly as exciting as it could have been.  NewMom was happy that I was on the table though and it told her I'm getting smaller and she was happy.
I don't know what she's talking about.  I'm the same size I've been for years!  If I get any smaller, I won't be able to jump on the sofa and I already have trouble doing that.

Anyway, after that excitement, and then a visit to PetSmart, having to take care of NewMom and getting Puppy from school and all that walking, a girl just needs to find a sunbeam you know?
From Mom: We needed to get Wedgie up to date on shots, hence the Vet visit.  Looks like she has lost about 9lbs (4kg) since she joined us.  Yay Wedgie!  Three walks a day will do that to you.

Personality in Peis

So, Chingmy is the 3rd Shar Pei to own our hearts, Wedgie is the 4th.

Wedgie is the ONLY Shar Pei in our lives who has EVER done this:
Gee my living room actually looks a little clean there!

Sorry, distracted by bright sparkly objects.  Wedgie is the only Shar Pei in our lives who has EVER roached.  At which point Puppy comes along and says "Wedgie needs a TUMMY RUB!"

Chingmy is much too dignified to roach - yet has no problem jumping around at the end of the leash and smacking head first into signposts (True story! Even if there wasn't a picture.)

They are lovely to walk on leash.  Sometimes stepping in unison.  (They've even peed in unison but no pictures because this isn't that type of blog.)

Until they see something they WANT.

And then you have a combined 110lbs (49kg) of Personality pulling to get to that squirrel.... Grandad.... little white dog across the street that taunts them..... you get the idea.

Is this thing on?

Hey, is this on?  Do you remember us?

Yeah, it's been a while hasn't it.  Things have gotten exciting on the Pei front though, so maybe it's time to get back blogging.  We'll see how long it lasts.

First off, everyone has gotten older.  Puppy has turned 8 years old.  Chingmy is 5 years old.
Yeah, it's really been a while.

And then, what sort of, kind of prompted us to come back:
Yeah.......
Meet Wedgie.  She is a 6 year old Blue Shar Pei, who has been championed and has had 1 litter.  I don't know anything about her puppies, sorry.  She had been living quite comfortabley at Chingmy's breeders place.  We have somewhat regular contact with the breeder because Chingmy has been boarded there before.  Anyway, Lovely Mama Michelle (the breeder) was mentioning that some of her dogs were getting older and should spend their time languishing on sofas instead of in kennels.

Uh oh.

"Oh yeah, what colours?"
"Red Fawns and Fawns."
"Didn't you have a blue?"
"Oh yeah, Wedgie is available too."

Uh oh.

So we thought about it.  And thought about it.  And thought about it.  And were slightly afraid that Mama Michelle would have Wedgie's leash in hand to pass her off to us when we went to pick Chingmy up from boarding, but no, we picked Wedgie up in August.

Chingmy is a pretty small Shar Pei.  She's just at/below knee height and weighs in at about 45lbs - 20.4kg.  Wedgie is shorter than Chingmy, but weighs in at about 65lbs - 29.5kg. Their personalities couldn't be more different either.  Chingmy is IN YOUR FACE.  Wedgie stands there like a kissyface wag monster waiting to be noticed and petted.  Although she will push in to get her fair share.  Chingmy is a graceful dancer, Wedgie is a Sherman Tank and nothing is going to get in her way.

The two of them together..... :-)

OK, I will sign off for now.  Not sure when I will update again, bit it will happen.  Hopefully before another 4 years passes.  Cheers!
